Vela Shows Decent Display In Arsenal’s Emirates Cup

First of all we want to say that Carlos Vela News in now back after a refreshing summer break!

21 years old Mexican striker Carlos Vela has shown a decent display in this years Emirates Cup for Arsene Wenger’s Gunners side at Emirates Stadium on last weekend. The El-Tri hitman was a late substitute in the Milan clash on Saturday afternoon, but Arsene Wenger has decided to give Carlitos a start against Neil Lennon’s Celtic on Sunday.

Vela weared his new number 11 which he picked up from Dutch striker Robin van Persie who changed to Dennis Bergkamp’s former number 10.

It needed Vela just 3 minutes into the first half to struck home for the Gunners after English midfield prospect Jack Wilshere picked up winger Theo Walcott on the right hand side and the English international slotted in a deadly cross, so that Vela just needed to slide in and tap the ball with his left foot over the line.

Overall the Mexican showed his tremendous potential, but we should stay calm because that is just the pre season and doesn’t matter really. It was nice to see that Carlos is now more focused to work hard in training as he looks much fitter than in the last season, his movement and technique is better and he looks really stronger prior to a hard body workout in Austria.

A good thing for Carlos is that this pre season preparation can help him to get back his knocked out confidence after a shocking display in the last campaign flooded with difficult injuries.

“El Bombardero” was a transfer target of several clubs including La Liga outfits CD Espanyol, Deportivo la Coruna, Sevilla FC as well as  German Bundesliga teams Borussia M’Gladbach, Cologne FC and Italian Serie A sides Genua FC and AS Roma.

They probably tried all to lure the young striker away from Ashburton Grove but his employer Arsenal Football Club refused all potential transfer talks about him with Gunners Manager Arsene Wenger having high plans in the future with the Mexican International.

  1. It was great to see Vela playing so well. I am big believer in his talent and I am confident he will become a star player for Arsenal!! Common Vela!

  2. He looked energetic and positive. When he’s like that he reminds me of Reyes in the early days.

  3. His talent is evident, but as you point out, he needs to come out of his shell and stop being tentative in games. It´s a similar scenario to Nasri, who is finally looking like he has a bit of swagger about him.

Vela has the technique and pace to have a real impact at Arsenal and I hope Wenger gives him opportunities to claim a first team spot this coming campaign.

  4. I believe Vela will be a massive player for the future. His knockers from last season are just typical impatient Gooners who won’t give youth a chance to mature.

  5. I love it when he is one on one with the Goalkeeper.

  6. He has the talent no question about that, but he has to learn to stay on his feet, be agressive and learn to shoot.

  7. he can do it.

  8. he’s working really well on the left wing
he will play almost all cup games and some PL games
so he should play about 20 games + subs

  9. de a cuerdo con sus comentarios ke carlos vela tiene mucho talento pero le falta explotar ese talento sol tenemmos ke esperar a ke aaranke la premier liguepara ver como se desarrolla tras los partido a parttido grasias
yuo cant do it gannnnneeerrrs si se puede arsenal

  10. okay this is the season for Carlos to shine, Wenger has pretty open the door wide for him by selling Eduardo. I think that was a direct message to Vela that this is your chance now take it and I think he will take it. This is his season if he’s not injured.

  11. As you all are finding out, Vela is playing next wed. in a friendly match with the champs Spain. Vela is being called to play , but so is Fabregas for Spain. Never the less, Vela and his team mates are not going to be easy to beat. This should be the Line up if they want to come out on top.

If the defence stays put in the back and Gio plays free in all positions, it will be the best bet to win the game against the Champions of the world. Barrera can be a sub for any player in the second half.
