Former Chivas Prospect Carlos Vela Booed By Fans At Estadio Omnilife

Arsenal striker Carlos Vela did not get a warm welcome by his former supporters as the Mexican national side suffered a 2:1 defeat in a friendly against Ecuador last night at Estadio Omnilife in Guadalajara.

After his poor performance and his statements about Chivas, that the clubs means nothing for his career, Mexican striker Carlos Vela was the boo man for the fans at the stadium Omnilife.

Vela had a weak performance, provided really nothing in attack and missed a good chance in the first half against Ecuador stopper Max Banguera.

Furthermore the former Chivas youth prospect added that the pitch was in really horrible constitution, so that the poor pitch was the main reason for Mexico’s bad performance. Carlitos said that he never was influenced by the boos.

Vela also said that he prefers to play at the Estadio Azteca as it is always packed with amazing atmosphere, the opposite is happen at the Chivas stadium where several stands were left empty.

The fans have not forgive him that he chooses after the U 17 World Cup to leave Chivas for a career with the Gunners, which started as we know with Celta Vigo and UD Salamanca.

  1. To hell with the chivas fans …. vela will be a legend for arsenal…. and these same fans will be chearing or him at the next world cup….

vela has every thing to be a striker and a left winger ….

i see him as the next david villa ….. probably would be even better than him… mark my words.

  2. Carlos Vela will have his opportunity to shine for Arsenal this season, and he will, with injuries to other players. So with abated breath, may he rise to the occasion , the fans will be behind him.

  3. No problem about who boos him or not,The main thing is he has to come back uninjured because this is the best season for him to break into the arsenal lineup

  4. Carlos shouldn’t involve himself with such distractions from the fans. He should just let his football do the talking.

  5. screw the fans. vela had a terrible world cup, and to be honest hes not as good as some poeple make him out to be…YET. he has shown signs and will be one of the best if he continues to improve and give it his all. we never know what goes behind the scenes and after watching the gunners through all these years I can confidently say that if he shows his worth in training he is going to get starts. look at diaby and denilson, diaby is known to be one of the hardest workers in training, hence the starts. with vela’s competition much higher than him he can still capitalise on the ever mercurial arshavin and the absent nasri to get his place, but hell need to work his socks off for it. i honestly think he will become a total goalscoring regular in a couple of seasons and the arsenal fans always have his back 🙂

  6. the guy should leave england,he’s not suited to the english game,it’s not fair on him,he never gets a run in the arsenal side and when he does get a game he doesn’t deliver, through no fault of his own i might add, then when he goes back to play for the national team gets jeered.

  7. Time to step up or step OUT of Arsenal

  8. The whole team had a horrible night. It was the worst performance from Mexico that I had seen in a while.

  10. I am sure the fans did not boo him only because of his poorly chosen words but because of his extremely poor performance. I have commented a lot in this website, many things in favor of Vela justifying his actions and questioning the lack of playing time he gets at Arsenal. But Vela against Ecuador and against other previous Mexico games has made me realize how he is all talk and no game. For him to say such arrogant words like he has no feeling for the club who created him who helped him with the U17 world cup and who ultimately sold him to Arsenal and then play very poorly on the pitch and miss clear goals like he did. What are you thinking Carlos?

ok grasias ,thanks , mercy , grazie

  12. I’ve been a big fan of Carlos Vela andhave both critized and hailed him but this time i sincerely believe he did not deserve the booing. He has great potential and we’ve all seen what he’s capable of, but how can he develop a high level of confidence and consistency when he doesnt get much playing time?? He can be a great player, but he needs to have play time in order to fully develop.
And i also want to clear up that Carlos said he was THANKFUL towards chivas but he didnt feel like a “chivista” or felt any type of feelings playing in their field because he never evenplayed in their first division! He barely played in the 3rd division and rarely exchanged any kind of sentiment with the fans. Mexico as a whole played horrible and he didnt deserve to be the only one booed. Carlos is a bright player and will demonstrate it in the future:)

  13. although i think vela has huge potential i think he dont suit the english game, i think he would be purfect forthe la liga. He reminds me of barcelona’s pedro. yet i think vela has a better potential. he should sell him to a good spainish side, it would b best for him and for arsenal. he wont break into the arsenal squad

  14. nice to hear positive things about him i really hate the way the are talking about him & yeah he can shine this season with the gunners #11

  15. Im a Mexico fan Vela was booed simply because of what he said about the Chivas and the national team was playing at they’re home,Javier Hernandez has had shit game’s as well but no way would they boo him,If Vela was playing at Azteca this wouldnt have happened..

  16. Do you guys know how much the tickets were, 80 dollars a ticket. It was already known that many would not pay that much for a friendly game. Normally, a friendly game is about 20 American dollars, so i hope you can all understand that is the main reason the stadium did not even get half full out of the 45 thousand capacity it can hold.

  17. Its a very young team. I think that the coach sucks, and a better one will make a big difference. Mexico has always played a 4-4-2. This is the only way that we will come out on top and start showing our potential.
    ……………Vela..Chicharito…………
    …………………Gio……………………..
    …Guardado…..Juarez….Barrera…
    .Salcido..Moreno..Marquez..Rodriguez
I think that Salcido needs to get replaced by a younger player. One that will stay back and not try to score all the time. Same with Marquez. In four years Marquez won’t be able to keep up with everybody. Ochoa is no good right now. Talavera from toluca should had been called in along with that goal keeper from Monterey. I like Rodruguez.

    • Salcido replaced? Are you retarded. All those shots he took could of easily been golazos. He’s a great leader compared to a lot of these other bums who don’t know how to speak up. I agree with Marquez not keeping up but Salcido is fine where he is. Magallon is a good defender as well. Gio is trying too hard in the midfield. He thinks he is Ronaldinho every time he gets the ball. We should put Gio on the right or left win and maybe put Barrera in the middle

  19. I put gio in that position because he needs to play freely. I don’t like Salcido always going out. Leave that to Guardado. Barrera and Juarez need to play together because they know each other very well. Vela and Chicharito play central very good and will provide a deadly offensive strike force for any team in the world. With the correct coach, this team will improve very great. The Gold Cup is a must win for self confidence and a practice to try and win the Copa America. Whatever happens with the Gold cup, Copa America, Olympics, Confederations cup, Mexico will be very dangerous in the world cup. Those are my predictions.

  20. About the things he said regarding Chivas and stuff, so I’ve heard that he trashed Chivas because, and please don’t tease me if I’m not right, the guy who like owns the team I guess got upset with Carlos for leaving Chivas to go to Arsenal, so he talked smacked about him…and Carlos mom. Now, this is what I heard so not sure but hmmmm maybe..

  21. Watching the Mexico vs Colombia game. Where’s Carlitos????

  22. Vela needs to step it up fast if he is going to be a starter on ANY team. You guys are praising him too much. He’s INCONSISTENT. Until I see him playing well every game..I wont say anything good about him. Now switching over to Mexico…Dos Santos, Guardado, Vela among others are becoming complacent because they got their “spot” on the national team on lock. I see no drive or hunger from a lot of these players and its the main reason we’re failing. If everyone would play as hard as Hernandez we would be fine.

  23. so he said the omnilife pitch is bad and he perfers to play in the azteca…..does that mean he wouldve perfered to have been part of club america than chivas?
