After his impressive hat-trick against Burgenland XI, Mexican Striker Carlos Vela played 40 minutes in Arsenal’s 3:1 victory over VFB Stuttgart this evening. Vela grabbed the equaliser for Arsenal and has now been on the scoreboard four goals in three pre season matches for the Gunners.
Arsene Wenger’s side had their best chance in the first half, as Theo Walcott played a great through ball to Robin Van Persie and he crossed the ball back to Walcott to give him a great 6 yard opportunity, but his shot was denied by former Arsenal Goalkeeper Jens Lehmann.
Wenger made then four changes for the second half with Carlos Vela, Lukasz Fabianski, Justin Hoyte and Nicklas Bendtner coming on, to replace Robin Van Persie, Manuel Almunia as well as Johan Djourou plus Emmanuel Adebayor.
Carlos started brightly, as he picked up the ball very well and controlled it with great pace and forced a free kick for his side.
The hosts got their lead after 51 minutes, as Yildiray Bastürk drilled a right footed effort from the edge of the area into the left corner. Gunners Goalkeeper Lukasz Fabanski had no chance to save that ball.
58 minutes gone as Carlos Vela equalised for Arsenal, as he got a through ball from Nicklas Bendtner to take the ball around Lehmann with his knee, to smash the ball with his right foot via the cross bar into the net.
Just 7 minutes later Arsenal should got their second, as Nicklas Bendtner got a lovely one two from Vela back to beat Khalid Bouhlarouz, to finish the ball with the inside of his right foot into the far corner.
The Gunners turn around it then completely as 16 years old Jack Wilshere finished with a top drop left footed effort a Gael Clichy cross.
Carlos Vela was then substituted with just 5 minutes on the clock by youngster Jay Simpson.
Carlos was looking bright tonight, he kept the ball very well, made good runs with his brilliant pace and finally grabbed his goal and produced the other for Nicklas Bendtner. The partnership up front with the Danish striker looks really amazing, but we should not forget that we are in pre season now.
