Arsenal’s Carlos Vela Arrives With National Side In San Diego

Arsenal’s Mexican prodigy Carlos Vela has arrived with the Mexican national team at the international airport of San Diego yesterday. Vela and his side will be a part of a friendly match , when Mexico take on Argentina in San Diego, California at the Qualcomm Stadium. The Kickoff will be on Wednesday evening at 8.00pm (local time), 4.00am (english time).

For the Mexican Selection is it the first of two friendlies, before they meet the national side of Belize in two World Cup 2010 qualification fixtures.

Carlos hopes to be a part in Jesus Ramirez starting lineup, either on the left wing or as a forward, against world class player Lionel Messi and the national side of Argentina.

Come On Arsenal and Vela Fans, because Carlos needs all your support!!!!

In other news, the mexican football federation have announced former Manchester City Manager Sven Goran Eriksson as the new national head coach of Carlos Vela and the Mexican Seleccion. Eriksson will start work with the team after the two friendlies and will take over the job from Jesus Ramirez. Most of the players have reacted shocked about this decision, because they feel that Eriksson have no clue about the mexican football.

Jared Borgetti said: “It’s a bad idea to bring Eriksson to Mexico. He doesn’t know Mexican football.”

  1. Great stuff with the Vela updates. Can’t wait to see him here.

Quick question for you: do Mexico do squad numbers (like France) or 1-11 (like England) ? What number does he usually wear for Mexico?

    Cheers.

  2. When he plays for Mexico than he wear often number 9 or 11, but when he comes from bench then a higher number, it is often very different. Against USA he weared the number 11 on the left wing.

  3. Thanks BerlinGunner! I’m gonna have to make an informed decision between no.9 and no.11 before getting my Mexico shirt!

Cheers! carlos will be very important for the gunners. We might easily forget Jose Antonio Reyes.Wish you good luck carlos.

  5. the way he runs with the ball reminds me of Reyes.

I hope he’s as talented as Reyes. Fans like to diss Jose Antonio because he didnt last long, but he was great for us and we’ve missed someone with his pace and directness down the left. Hopefully Carlos can fill that void – and cope with life in England a little more successfully.

  6. LOL. who stays up until 4 am to watch an arsenal player play???? Just wait until next season….. don’t get me wrong I am a really big arsenal fan but I just don’t get why people want to see that game so badly…….

  7. No we don’t stay up until 4am we set the alarm clock and wake up to watch it or just record it.
Vella will not be playing on yhe wing, Arsene has already stated that he see’s Vella as an Eduardo type striker.
