Osasuna Returns With A Point

On loan Arsenal forward Carlos Vela started on the left wing in Osasuna’s goalless draw against Real Valladolid in the evening kick off at the Estadio Municipal Jose Zorilla. Vela made a good performace and played 89 minutes before he was substituted by portuguese midfielder Hugo Viana. 16045 visitors at the stadium could see a battle of two teams, who want stay in the spanish top league. The draw does not really help the side from Pamplona, but it is the next crucial step for the club to avoid relegation. With the unbeaten run of four games stayed the team from coach Jose Angel Ziganda now on 13th position with only 2 points clear of the the dangerous relegation zone.

The game started nervous in the first 10 minutes as the game was flooded with fouls.  After three minutes had Osasuna the opener as Cesar Cruchaga crashed a header on the crossbar after a good cross delivery from Jaroslav Plasil.

But he hosts should get their first chance as Osasuna Goalkeeper Ricardo saved a left footed Joseba Llorente effort from outside the box. 5 minutes later drilled Osasuna midfielder Jaroslav Plasil a right footer on goal, but the strike missed the target. 18 minutes gone as Valladolid had the next opportunity as Vivar Dorado sent high and wide a right footed effort from inside the box.

Another Cesar Cruchaga header went then over the bar, before 3 minutes later a shot from Garcia Calvo was blocked by the Osasuna defense. The next chance came then for Osasuna as Carlos Vela delivered Juanfran, but his right footed effort in the 33 minute missed the left corner.

But the Pamplona outfit should get the last opportunity in the first half as Jaroslav Plasil delivered Juanfran, but his header missed the right corner. With a goalless score went both teams back into the changing rooms at Estadio Municipal Jose Zorilla. 

After the break Coach Jose Angel Ziganda must replaced then Juanfran with Hector Font for the second half. Valladolid had then the better start in the second half as Sisi sent a right footed effort from outside the box wide. 

8 minutes gone in the second half as Osasuna was close to get the lead as Carlos Vela fired a left footed effort from the edge of the area, but the ball was saved by Real Goalkeeper Sergio Asenjo. Another opportunity for the Osasunistas as Kike Sola crashed a left footer from inside the box on the crossbar.

The home side had then a couple of chances as Vivar Dorado’s shot was blocked by Osasuna’s defense as well as the right footed effort from Joseba Llorente missed the right corner. Seconds later drilled again Joseba Llorente a right footer on goal, but the ball missed the target. 

Nearly the end Osasuna looked then for the winner as Carlos fired a long range effort with his left foot from the right side of the box, but the ball was saved by Valladolid’s defense.

The match was over after 89 minutes for Carlos as he was replaced by portuguese midfielder Hugo Viana. Carlos had a couple of good chances in the match and was unstoppable on the left wing as well as that he was the most fouled player on the pitch. 

The final whistle came and the game finished with a goalless draw!

Next up for Carlos is a home match against Real Betis!

    The scoreline makes the game sounds boring, but trust me, there was plenty of chances each way and Carlos had another super game.
